Cleaning Tips
Minimize

Proper care and maintenance of your carpet will extend its useful life and preserve its appearance for many years. Failure to take care of it will result in premature wear. Additionally, clean carpets contribute to a healthy indoor environment.

Save yourself money and maintain a healthy home by using the following simple carpet care tips:

  1. Vacuum your carpets three times a week using a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA (high-efficiency particulate) filter.
  2. Remove stains and spills as promptly as possible. This is best achieved with Chem-Dry Professional Strength Spot Remover. Remove as much excess as possible, then apply and blot with a clean white cloth. DO NOT rub the spot as this might grind the stain in further.
  3. Have your carpets cleaned and protected at least twice a year by Chem-Dry, or more often if you have children or pets.

If your carpet has been treated with Chem-Dry's Protectant, then you already have a huge advantage in removing stains.  For stain and spot removal, read the tips and suggestions we have compiled below and purchase Chem-Dry professional home care products to wipe those inevitable deep stains clean:

  1. Act Quickly - The longer the stain is allowed to remain, the more chance it has to set.
  2. Know what kind of stain you are working on, as well as the type of fabric or surface so you can choose the most applicable product. View the list below to see which product to use for water or oil based spots.
  3. Remove as much excess stain as you can by blotting, scraping or brushing whatever will come off. DO NOT rub it in.
  4. Test all fabrics and carpets before cleaning by spraying a small amount of Chem-Dry Professional Strength Spot Remover or Chem-Dry Grease & Oil Remover on a hidden area.  Blot dry and observe for 10 minutes. Make sure there is no carpet color removal on the cloth and that, when dry, there is no visible discoloration in the area you cleaned.
  5. Work from the outside edge of the stain to the inside to keep the stain from spreading.
  6. Call Chem-Dry for expert spot & stain removal if these efforts do not work.
  7. Have a Chem-Dry Professional apply our Powerguard Protector with every cleaning to give you the best advantage for removing stains.
